Frequently Asked Questions
We can cover a wide range of topics, including many of the items in the on-site consultation. There are also limitations inherent with our being unable to physically see and interact with your home - we cannot develop as deep an understanding of your home's construction and situation on the property in a virtual setting.
Structural issues can be complex, and a virtual consultation isn't always sufficient for us to provide the guidance you need. In certain cases, we may determine during the virtual consultation that a follow-up on-site consultation or a structural inspection is required to resolve your issue or question. In these cases, we will advise you accordingly and work with you directly to schedule any additional services you need.
If you complete a virtual consultation, on-site consultations and structural inspections are offered with a $50 discount.
We offer convenient, self-service online booking, payment, and appointment management through Square.

An inspection of a defect or problem in a home's structure performed by a Licensed Professional Engineer qualified in Structural Engineering. The goal of the inspection is to determine if the load carrying capacity of the home's system is reduced or the structure's stability is compromised by the defect or problem.
Caruso Engineering is licensed and qualified to perform Structural Inspections, and we are highly experienced as well. We love helping folks like you through these problems.
Schedule a consultation
The Structural Inspection is specifically geared towards those who need a written evaluation of an existing defect and an estimate of "cost to remediate." This information is always delivered to the client in the form of a stamped, written report in a Structural Inspection. A Consultation does not include a written report or deliverable of any kind.
Schedule a consultation
1) Homeowners with a known, existing defect in their structure who wish to assess its severity, either for safety, resale value, or some other purpose.
2) Prospective buyers of a home with a defect flagged for evaluation or otherwise concerning to them.
Schedule a Structural Inspection
We will meet you at the property at the beginning of the inspection and share any initial thoughts based on existing documentation you may have already sent over. We will then examine the defect and take measurements and photos as necessary. We will then walk-through other areas of the home (interior and exterior) to collect any other data, photos, or measurements required to complete the evaluation.
You are welcome and encouraged to witness the inspection and follow along throughout the process. We will give you valuable insights into your home's performance and construction during the inspection. Our clients often leave the inspection with a much fuller understanding of their home, and feel greater confidence proceeding with repairs or renovations. Best of all, our clients often feel more relaxed in their home after the inspection just by knowing what's going on.
