Our mission...

Designing Resilience in our Communities

At Caruso Engineering, we believe the structures around us shape how we live, work, and connect. We focus primarily on projects throughout Northeast Ohio because these are the communities we are part of—where we live, raise our families, and have a direct investment in the quality of the built environment.

Our mission, Designing Resilience in our Communities, reflects both what we design and how we work. We partner closely with our clients to understand their goals, challenges, and priorities, helping them navigate complex decisions with clarity and confidence. We are not just problem-solvers—we are trusted advisors, committed to delivering thoughtful, practical solutions and helping our clients understand the reasoning behind them.

We believe resilient structures are those that balance functionality, practicality, durability, and aesthetic value. By combining technical expertise with a collaborative approach, we help our clients realize their vision while strengthening the communities we all share.

Christopher Caruso PE
President, Founder

Chris brings more than 17 years of experience in structural engineering across residential, commercial, industrial, and heavy civil projects. His work includes extensive residential structural design throughout Northeast Ohio, ranging from foundation repairs and basement stabilization to new homes and major additions. He has also rehabilitated existing commercial buildings and spaces, designed new buildings, and completed condition assessments for buildings spanning retail, religious, industrial, educational, and other usages throughout Northeast Ohio  He has also designed large-scale underground infrastructure projects, including combined sewer overflow (CSO) tunnel systems exceeding $250 million. That experience with deep foundations, lateral earth pressures, groundwater control, and reinforced concrete design directly informs his approach to residential basements, retaining walls, and other below-grade structures.

He earned his Bachelor of Engineering from Swarthmore College and his Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. After beginning his career in the Boston area, he relocated to Northeast Ohio, where he now focuses heavily on residential and small commercial structural work while overseeing the firm’s technical direction. Chris remains actively involved in design and review, applying large-scale structural expertise to projects of every size. He lives in Highland Heights, OH, with his wife and 3 children.

Alexander Conroy PE
Lead Structural Engineer

Alex specializes in residential structural design and assessment, with deep expertise in wood-framed construction and carpentry gained through a vocational carpentry training program completed alongside his engineering studies. At Caruso Engineering, he designs structural systems for new homes, additions, and remodels, and evaluates foundation settlement, wall movement, and structural modifications in existing houses. His recent projects include adaptive reuse and commercial work such as Mosaic Brewery in Tremont, as well as structural retrofits of low-rise commercial buildings. Combined with his seven years of heavy civil and infrastructure experience with Kokosing Construction — including bridges, roadway reconstruction, and large-scale site coordination —

Alex has a diverse experience base that informs both his residential and commercial design work. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Ohio University and applies both engineering knowledge and practical construction insight to develop structural solutions that are efficient, buildable, and code-compliant. His background allows him to approach wood-framed residential structures with a practical understanding of construction techniques, while drawing on heavy civil experience to navigate complex structural challenges and site conditions.

Andy Brooke
Lead Structural Engineer

Andy has delivered structural engineering projects across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., ranging from small residential renovations to multi-story apartments, commercial offices, and large healthcare facilities. He has led the design and coordination of major projects, including the New Surrey Hospital & Cancer Centre ($2.1B), Dagenham Green Phase 1 ($150M residential development), and Acton Gardens Phase 9.4 ($46M residential towers with landscaped podiums). Andy’s experience includes managing projects with tight schedules, complex site conditions, and historic preservation requirements, giving him the ability to handle technically challenging projects that require careful planning and attention to detail.

Originally from the U.K., Andy earned a First Class Honours degree in Civil Engineering from London South Bank University. His expertise is particularly strong in high-value residential and mixed-use developments where multiple disciplines intersect, as well as projects that require coordinating large teams across design and construction phases. He brings a balance of design leadership and hands-on problem solving that is rare for projects spanning both small-scale residential and multi-million-dollar developments.

Georgina Bihari
CADD Technician

Georgina brings decades of experience in drafting across civil, structural, environmental, and surveying projects. At Caruso Engineering, she is responsible for CAD drafting as well as developing and maintaining drawing standards and templates. Her background spans structural, architectural, and civil/survey drafting, allowing her to work across a wide range of project types.

Prior to joining Caruso Engineering, Georgina developed extensive experience using AutoCAD to prepare site plans, boundary and topographic surveys, permit drawings, and environmental exhibits, often incorporating GPS-based field data into mapping and drawing sets. Her work supported roadway and site development projects, wetland delineation and permitting efforts, and survey-based documentation. Over the course of her career, she has also trained staff on drafting systems and managed drawing documentation and file organization.

Her experience across multiple disciplines allows her to adapt to different project requirements and drafting needs.
